Coherence

This is thought-provoking science fiction at its best. A small budget production that keeps you on the edge of your seat more than any laser-gun pyrotechics or CGI wizardry ever can. On the night a comet is passing close to earth, eight friends get together for a dinner party. Some extremely strange and disconcerting events begin to unfold. Is the quantum fabric of reality unravelling or is something more mundane going on? The night presents them with unsettling psychological and metaphysical challenges.

Dark

Dark is surely one of the most impressive science fiction series ever to come out of Germany. Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese it has won huge critical praise, with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 95% (critics) and 94% (audience). With a haunting musical score, moody visuals and wonderful acting, it ran for three seasons from 2017 to 2020.

The plot is ambitiously complex, following a cast of characters in the fictional German village of Winden; the story interwoven into several different decades and generations as they try to discover the truth behind a child's sudden and seemingly inexplicable disappearance. A sinister time-travelling conspiracy emerges...

Another Earth

A seemingly identical copy of earth has appeared in the solar system. Rhoda, a promising astronomy student makes a tragic error of judgement after a party resulting in the death of the family of John. She is imprisoned and after her release begins a relationship with John who is unaware of their connection. Tormented by her past, Rhoda wonders if there is redemption in Earth II. Does she have a counterpart up there and has she made the same mistakes?

Twice Upon a Time

Months after a crushing breakup with the love of his life, Louise, the grief-stricken Vincent has tried to move on with his life by going to parties, and quick sleazy affairs. One day, Vincent receives a mysterious parcel he never ordered. Inside is a strange box without a bottom, giving the user the ability to travel back to the past, and in Vincent’s case, transports him back to a time where he and Louise are still together, giving him another chance at their relationship.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

After a painful breakup, Clementine (Kate Winslet) undergoes a procedure to erase memories of her former boyfriend Joel (Jim Carrey) from her mind. When Joel discovers that Clementine is going to extremes to forget their relationship, he undergoes the same procedure and slowly begins to forget the woman that he loved. Directed by former music video director Michel Gondry, the visually arresting film explores the intricacy of relationships and the pain of loss.
